Australian billionaire Clive Palmer has floated the idea of building a Titanic II.
Let it be known that this is the same man who tarnished a popular Queensland Resort called Coolum.
The dinosaur obsessed billionaire won’t take his finger off it. Insisting that the new ship will be a commercial success.
We can see that the building of such a thing would be done in such poor taste.
I mean anyone who cares about Titanic, the story and legacy will know that replacing it with a floating RSL would have to be one of the most tacky ideas of all time.
I mean it does not take a genius to know what the future of a Titanic II will look like.
It would be as tacky as all get out and that’s only the beginning.
I am sure there are some people who will be excited by such a monstrosity hitting the shores of Australia.
Let it be known that this would consist of mainly the bogan portion of the population.
These excited revelers will jump at the opportunity to take their kids on the Titanic.
But anyone who knows anything knows that the Titanic was a complete tragedy, not something to be trivialized in this fashion.
Clive Palmers has a record of demonstrating poor taste in the past. His purchase and rebranding of Coolum Resort in Queensland has been a total disaster.
Coolum Resort has long been known as one of the finest resorts on the Gold Coast. It was an incredible first rate village like resort with incredible facilities and atmosphere- perfect for families and couples.
Now it has been completely turned on its head and completely boganised.
Palmer has done a number on the golf course there as well. The golf course no longer hosts the big golf tournaments that it used to.
He has completely disrupted the functioning of a fine resort. He has upset a lot of the loyal staff on the books there as well as local residents.
Basically he has ruined what was a very special place.
This total and utter boganisation agenda is now taking aim at Titanic, trivialising a tragic disaster that has long become a legend.
It is an extension of Palmer’s strategy of taking something that is special to many people and rubbing his face in it.
The Titanic is not something that should be touched. You should not hope to profit off the back of a tragedy on a massive scale.
Let’s just hope that all the financiers involved realise that it is a stinker of an idea. It is with shame that something like this has even been considered.
Without a doubt, I am positive that it is not going to happen. I have confidence in the good sense of people with a lot of money.
Clive Palmer has already failed with his hospitality experiment in Coolum.
The lesson for Clive is that you cannot take control of something special, something above you and force your agenda upon it.
We get it you like good things and you want to be amongst it. Unfortunately you are nothing that special yourself.
There is a good lesson to learn that money cannot necessary buy you prestige.
Having money means you are good at one thing – getting it.
Becoming super wealthy is not the most important thing in life. Being financially independent certainly could be.
Becoming super wealthy and then throwing your money around buying influence off the backs of decent people is not impressive.
There is a good lesson to learn from this. Modern society’s worshipping of the super wealthy should be called into question.
Let it be known having wealth does not denote class, charm and charisma. These are things that folks need to be aware of.
